Qohelet requested photo’s of the inside of my new Bible. I pictured two quick photo’s from my cell phone. Select each photo for a large 1552×2592 display. Don’t do this on a dial-up connection, unless your going to make a sandwich. A better looking official sample is here.

The “official” pdf gives us a great view. Qohelet can go to Rick Mansfield’s old blog and read his review: http://homepage.mac.com/rmansfield/thislamp/files/20071211_TNIVRB_hand_on_review.html Rick has quite a bit of other posts regarding the reference Bible and the TNIV itself.

By the way, I’ve come to really appreciate my TNIV RB. I love the single column text; it’s nice to have all the cross references and topical ties; the paper is very good quality, and I love the fact that it’s black letter! It’s now my main carrying Bible. The cover, though bonded, seems as good as any bonded I’ve ever owned. Still, I think I’d pop for the Renaissance leather next time. I’m hoping somebody would have a good sale on that, now that the TNIV is being discontinued. I’m keeping my eyes open!

Oh, one more thing. If you’re eyes aren’t what they used to be, you might want to check out the font size. It could be larger, but I do all right as long as I wear my bifocals.

I hate to admit it, but font size is becoming more an issue with me. It was one of the reasons I upgraded to this.

I think the discontinued part has been misunderstood. The actual statement was “…discontinue putting out new products with the TNIV.” As long as the old products are selling, they should be around for awhile. I was hoping to see a few discounts too, but on usable editions right now, I’m not seeing any.

I received the Renaissance leather edition as a gift from Zondervan and REALLY love it. I purchased the bonded leather a year before. I’ve found this edition (in either binding) very satisfying.

The font size is on the small side, though. Only drawback.

Thanks for the pics and the sample pdf. Looks like a very readable bible. One thing I prefer about pictures over sample texts is that you can see the amount of bleedthrough (and therefore the paper quality). The weird font is still there. Too many topical ties, and I haven’t the foggiest what it’s for.
BTW, thanks also for the Mansfield review.

Oooooo, forget this edition then. Go for this…about the same font and layout, topical ties, chapter and verse are all jettisoned. The writings are in a more traditional order, not the modern western order.
